Suspicious activity in the Waltham area

Dear Resident,

Over the past 24 hours we have had reports of persons walking along streets in the Waltham area, trying the doors of houses and cars to see if they are unlocked.

In the Humberside Force area 33% of all burglaries take place with the offender gaining access through an unlocked door or an open window.

Criminals also try to gain easy access to vehicles with the intention of trying to steal the vehicle or something inside it.

Please ensure that you take the necessary steps to reduce the risk of you becoming a victim of these types of offences by considering the below tips.

Always lock your house doors, even when you are in the house, it only takes seconds for someone to open the door and steal items.

Ensure you close and lock your windows when you aren't in the room.

Always lock your car doors, even if you are just away from it for a short period of time, and never leave the keys in the car.

Use additional prevention measures such as steering locks or trackers for added security. Criminals don't always come prepared with tools to remove such items.

Always report suspicious behaviour to the Police, especially if persons are seen paying attention to vehicles or trying door handles.
